Live Scan for Students and Interns Near Northridge: Prep Guide
You have been placed in a clinical rotation, a classroom practicum, a volunteer role or an internship, and the placement paperwork mentions fingerprints. It can feel like one more thing between you and your first day. This guide is for students and interns around Northridge who need to understand the Live Scan step.
Start by asking the right office
We cannot tell you whether your program requires fingerprints, since that decision comes from the school, the placement site or the agency behind it. Ask your program coordinator three things:
Is a fingerprint-based background check required for my placement?
Which Live Scan Request form should I use, and where do I get it?
Is there a deadline, and who receives the results?
Write the answers down. They will save you from guessing later.
Understand the form
The Live Scan Request form is issued for the specific agency or program. It includes codes that tell the system where to send your information. You, the applicant, fill in your personal details. If something on the form is unclear, return to your coordinator. We do not choose codes or fill in agency details for you.
Bring the right items
On the day of the appointment you need:
The completed request form.
A valid government-issued photo ID. A school ID alone may not be enough, so check with your program.
Payment for the applicable fees, as stated on your form or by your program.
If a parent or guardian handles fees for you, sort that out in advance so the payment question is not holding up the appointment.
Why mobile can suit a student schedule
Classes, labs, shifts and commuting tend to eat the day. A mobile appointment can come to you at home or at a convenient location, and we offer evenings, weekends and after-hours times when available. A group of classmates with the same requirement can also arrange a session together, which may save everybody a trip. Ask us what is possible for your location.
Prepare your hands
Wash and dry your hands before the appointment and skip lotion. Students who do a lot of cleaning, climbing or lab work sometimes have worn fingertips, which can make capturing clear prints slower. If that applies to you, mention it so we can allow time.
Keep your records
Once you are done, keep your receipt or transaction number. Your program may ask for it. If you lose it, ask us what information we can share for the appointment.
What happens after
Your fingerprints are submitted according to the form. The results go to the agency or program, not through us, and we have no insight into outcomes or timing. Direct questions about status to the requesting party.
