After Your Live Scan in North Hollywood: Receipts and Next Steps

2 min read

The fingerprinting itself takes only a short time. What people often wonder about is the part afterward: what to hold on to, who sees the outcome and who to ask if something seems slow. This question-and-answer guide is for North Hollywood residents and workers who have just finished, or are about to finish, a Live Scan appointment.

What should I keep when I leave?

Keep any receipt or transaction number you are given. Employers, schools and agencies sometimes ask for it to confirm the fingerprints were submitted. Store a photo of it and the paper copy together. If you do lose it, contact us and we will tell you what information we can provide about your appointment.

Do you get my results?

No. Your prints are submitted according to the form you brought, and results go to the agency or employer named on it. We do not see, interpret or discuss outcomes. For the status of your check, contact the requesting party.

How long will it take?

We cannot predict timing. Processing depends on the agencies involved and on the details of each case. If you have a start date or a deadline, tell your employer or program that your fingerprints were taken on a specific date, and ask them when they expect to hear back.

What if I think I filled in something wrong?

Contact the agency or program that gave you the form first. They know what their system needs. If the form's information is wrong, you may need to speak with them about what to do next. We cannot change agency codes on your behalf or advise you about eligibility.

What if my prints are rejected?

Sometimes prints cannot be used, often because of image quality. The requesting agency or the process will usually tell you what happens next. In general, dry, worn or lotioned hands can make clear prints harder to capture.

Do I need to bring anything else for later steps?

That depends on your agency. Some ask for a copy of your receipt. Others only need the submission. Ask the person or office that sent you for the form what they will require after you finish.

Can I schedule a repeat visit?

If you are told you need to be fingerprinted again, bring the new instructions or form from the agency. You will need valid photo ID and a way to pay the applicable fees, as you did the first time.

A few habits that help

  • Write down the date and the name of the agency on the form.

  • Save the receipt where you can find it.

  • Reply promptly if the agency contacts you.

  • Do not guess about status; ask the source.

Final reminder

Our role ends at accurate capture and submission. For everything that follows, the requesting agency or employer is your point of contact.
