Culver City Mobile Live Scan: 5 Myths About Fingerprinting

Culver City is home to production companies, tech and media offices, schools and a lot of freelancers who move from one assignment to the next. When a new engagement asks for fingerprints, plenty of rumors float around. Here are five common myths about Live Scan, paired with what is actually true.

Myth 1: "I can just show up with my name and a photo ID."

Fact: Live Scan runs on the agency's request form. The form carries the codes that tell the system where your prints go. Without it, we cannot start. Get the completed Live Scan Request form from the employer, school, licensing board or agency, and bring it along with a valid government-issued photo ID.

Myth 2: "The fingerprinting person decides if I pass."

Fact: We capture and submit your prints. We do not decide eligibility, we do not see results, and we cannot predict what the receiving agency will conclude. Questions about your results belong with the agency that requested the check.

Myth 3: "Mobile means a lower-quality scan."

Fact: Mobile Live Scan uses the same type of electronic capture, and it follows the same form and submission steps. What changes is the location. We come to a workplace, a studio, an apartment or another suitable spot, so you do not have to rearrange a workday.

Myth 4: "Anyone on my crew can use my paperwork."

Fact: Each person needs their own request form and their own ID. Forms are personal. A team can schedule fingerprinting together, but every individual brings what belongs to them.

Myth 5: "If my prints are rejected, I did something wrong."

Fact: Print quality can be affected by dry skin, worn ridges, moisture, or other everyday conditions. A rejection does not mean you did anything wrong. It simply means the image was not usable. What happens next depends on the agency's instructions, and we can talk it through with you at your appointment if it happens.

A quick checklist for your Culver City appointment

  • The agency's completed Live Scan Request form.

  • A valid government-issued photo ID.

  • A way to pay the applicable fees. The form or the requesting party can tell you what they are.

  • Clean, dry hands, without heavy lotion.

  • Your receipt or transaction number after the capture, since the requesting party may ask for it later.

Booking around a production schedule

Call times in this business rarely match office hours. If your shoot or contract has odd hours, tell us what window you have. We offer overnight and after-hours appointments, along with evenings, nights and weekends when available. If several people are starting at the same time, a group session at your location may save everyone a trip.

We cannot choose agency codes for you or tell you whether your role needs a background check. If you are unsure, ask the requesting party first.

Ready when you are. Pick a time and we will bring the equipment to you.
